Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Donald Trump likes to tweet. Twitter appears to be one of his favorite methods of communicating with the population. And his use of Twitter has been a controversial component of his presidency, for many reasons.
He regularly uses Twitter in his official capacity as President of the United States to speak his mind and attack those who he perceives as enemies. And when it comes to his perceived enemies, no person is safe. Allegiances can change faster than a New York minute.
Trump says things that no president has ever dared to say before (or probably even thought about saying, quite frankly).
Also, as noted above, he has a tendency to hit the “block” button when people offer the slightest bit of criticism.
Trump has communicated policy through his Twitter page, and, as his former press secretary, Sean Spicer, once asserted, Trump’s tweets are his “official statements.” They may as well be printed on official letterhead. And all citizens under his “leadership” have a right to see them.
